Singing Framedrum - Ableton Live Pack
The Singing Framedrum Pack from Cellula Soundbase consists of 6 recorded Audio Loops, as well as Midi Files which will bring new rhythms into your music production. As we enter the world of the seven beat cycles we will find that even trained musicians often will have difficulty to get into the feel of this rhythm. Apart from jazz music western popular music will play mostly in 3, 4, 6 or 8 beats. But looking into the realm of eastern music we will find a great variety of music playing in seven beats. Starting from the Balkans to some middle eastern countries like Turkey or Asian countries like Afghanistan, India etc., a lot of classical as well as traditional music is played in seven beats. The tension of the 7 might derive from the fact that it is lying in between the 6 and the 8, so we get the feeling that there is one beat missing when referencing the 8 beat cycle that we all are acquainted to. In the music of the Balkans or the Middle East we find most commonly two different shapes of seven beat rhythms which both consist of a 3 and a 4 beat unit. Putting 3 and 4 side by side we get the following structural possibilities: 3+4 or 4+3. In this pack we make use of both versions. The framedrum as well as the orchestral part play in the basic pattern of 3+4 but we changed the structure into 6+8 due to adding a subdivisional pattern which gives kind of a half-time feel to the rhythm. The oud and the drum kit play in a typical additive 4+3 structure which gives this special drive and forward movement that is quite unique to the 7 beat rhythm.
